East Coast Kitchen Party: Grand Theatre Announces Open Call for London and London-Affiliated Musicians

December 9, 2022 – London ON – In celebration of London’s UNESCO City of Music designation, and in an effort to showcase emerging and established musical talent in London, Ontario, the Grand Theatre is proud to launch an open call for musicians to perform in its maritime-flavoured season closer, Neptune Theatre’s East Coast Kitchen Party – playing April 18th through May 6th, 2023 on the Spriet Stage. This is a paid opportunity made possible by the support of the London Music Office and Tourism London. Interested solo artists and bands are asked to complete a two-step application process for consideration by January 6th, 2023.

East Coast Kitchen Party, a Neptune Theatre production, offers an authentically Nova Scotian experience. It’s a concert celebration set in a kitchen, where the instruments come out, and friends start to play some of the best music that the East Coast has to offer. Each performance will see the stunning cast of Maritimers, joined by an outstanding lineup of London, Ontario musicians, who will drop in to give the party a very local flavour.

“As a London Proud organization, we are thrilled to invite local musicians to apply to be an integral and exciting part of the final production of our season: East Coast Kitchen Party,” remarks Dennis Garnhum, Grand Theatre Artistic Director.  “Whether a folk trio, a rock band, a reggae artist, a pop group, or something else completely, we look forward to receiving applications, celebrating local talent, and welcoming an incredible lineup of new, and familiar, musicians to our Grand Kitchen Party.”

The Call for Musicians is open to both solo performers and small groups (up to 3 musicians – due to space limitations) who are London-based or affiliated. Interested applicants are asked to apply through a two-step process prior to Friday, January 6th, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. Applicants first create a London Music Office profile, via their website at: londonmusicoffice.com/artists-profile. Next, applicants complete the Grand’s East Coast Kitchen Party Musician Application form, which can be found at the following link: https://forms.gle/gNpqabWrtuBmjXSY6.

Following the application period, a review panel will evaluate the applications before selecting 18 musicians/groups from a variety of musical genres. All applicants will be contacted by mid-January 2023. Selected musicians will join the cast of East Coast Kitchen Party for one performance day to play a 15-minute set on stage, and another 30-minute set immediately following the show in the Drewlo Lounge.

East Coast Kitchen Party is on the Spriet Stage from April 18th through May 6th, 2023. Tickets begin at $35 and are available at www.grandtheatre.com, by phone at 519-672-8800, or at the Box Office, 471 Richmond Street.
