The Show Must Go Wrong

Slapstick Broadway sensation set to wreak havoc at the Grand Theatre
It’s a play about a play – and that play within the play goes terribly, horribly, hilariously wrong every single night. If you work in the theatre, it would be your nightmare on repeat. If you’re in the audience, you’ll be laughing along – when you aren’t hanging onto your seat for dear life.
As soon as you enter the theatre, something is amiss. Is that supposed to be there? Are we supposed to be here? Yes and yes. This crack team of actors and artists has already brought the house down in Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg. Directed by none other than former Grand Theatre Artistic Director, Dennis Garnhum, the only thing about the show that isn’t a surprise is that its next stop is London, Ontario.
Dennis Garnhum returns to London to direct The Play That Goes Wrong at the Grand Theatre.
Londoners are still talking about Clue, Garnhum’s most recent production at the Grand and a runaway smash-hit that got extended before it even hit the stage. This October, Garnhum is back with another side-splitting comedy, a tight-knit cast, another big set, and a show that is action-packed with stunts.
So action-packed in fact, that the talents of Fight & Movement Director Morgan Yamada were a must. In the UK, where physical comedy reigns, a movement director is essential to take each cast member’s well-timed slips and happy “accidents” to the next level. In Canada, Yamada’s very particular set of talents will both shock and delight audiences and redefine what they thought would be possible in front of a live theatre audience. In the end, the show will go on – even when the set starts to fall apart and bodies start to tumble – and the only injuries will be the sides that hurt from horrified laughter.
