The Opportunity
The Grand Theatre is where stories come alive and that includes yours. We’re looking for engaging, service-driven Bartenders to join our Front of House team during our busiest time of the year, from September through January, with paid training beginning in August. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, bring a warm, welcoming attitude to every shift, and take pride in great service, we want you behind our bar.
As a Bartender at The Grand, you’ll provide fast, friendly service to patrons attending performances and private events. You’ll work independently or as part of a small team at bar stations located throughout our venue, maintaining clean, fully stocked spaces and ensuring a smooth customer experience.
What to Expect:
Shifts are based on show and event schedules. Typical shifts available are as follows but may vary by week, by show, by need.
Matinees: 11:15 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Evenings: 5:15 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. or 6:15 p.m. – 1:00 a.m.
Most work occurs Tuesday–Sunday, with some private events outside that window
What You'll Do:
- Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and snacks
- Process payments accurately (cash, debit, credit); balance your till
- Restock supplies and maintain clean, organized bar and lobby areas
- Restock inventory and notify supervisors of low supplies
- Follow Smart Serve guidelines, responsible service standards and all health and safety protocols
- Set up and support private functions or special events as needed
You Should Have:
- Smart Serve certification (must be valid before your first shift)
- Experience with POS systems (e.g., Square) preferred
- Previous bartending or customer service experience
- Comfortable with physical activity, including lifting (up to 35 lbs regularly), up to 75 lbs occasionally and standing for long periods
- Comfort working independently and handling busy rush periods
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Reliable transportation and punctuality
- Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
Bonus if you have:
- Food Handling certification
- First Aid and CPR
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Non-Canadian applicants must have a valid employment Visa and proper documentation authorizing their ability to work in Canada on a part-time basis.
