Step into the spotlight and learn from The Grand's Artistic Director.

During February and March 2008, The Grand is holding six, three-hour sessions. Work with The Grand Theatre's Artistic Director, Susan Ferley, and further develop acting skills in a creative and supportive atmosphere. These sessions are for experienced and mature actors, 50 plus. Participants will be able to expand their knowledge of acting and learn new techniques to apply while rehearsing and performing. Classes will focus on discovering each actor's individual strengths and help them to utilize these qualities to enhance their work. Actors will gain skills while delving into scene study and text work.

Participants will share their work with family and friends on Sunday, March 30 2008 with an informal showing of scenes and monologues in our McManus Studio Theatre.

Program Mentor

Susan Ferley has been the Artistic Director for The Grand Theatre since 2001. Her directing credits at The Grand include: Anne of Green Gables: A Musical, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again, Einstein's Gift, Trying, A Streetcar Named Desire, Tuesdays with Morrie, Strawberries in January, Peter Pan, Proof, Blithe Spirit, Macbeth and The Gin Game. Her work also includes High School Project productions Les Misérables School Edition (2007), Romeo and Juliet (2007), West Side Story (2006), Twelfth Night (2006), The Sound of Music (2005), Fiddler on the Roof (2004), The Music Man (2003), and Oliver! (2002).

Other Directing Credits Include The Stone Angel (Alberta Theatre Projects), Salt Water Moon (Prairie Theatre Exchange), Burn This, Scrooge, Nicholas Nickleby, Romeo and Juliet, Misalliance and Twelfth Night (Globe Theatre). Susan was the Artistic Director of The Globe Theatre in Regina from 1990-1998. She has also been involved in actor training at a number of acting programs including: National Theatre School, The Banff Centre, University of Alberta Drama Department, University of Regina Theatre Department and Studio 58.

She will be directing Hana's Suitcase opening February 2008 at The Grand.
