The Dreamcoat

Our Wardrobe department has dedicated over 300 hours to create the famous Technicolor® Dreamcoat.

Sixty-nine different fabrics were used in creating the coat, and 1,298 individual pieces of fabric were used throughout.

Our Wardrobe deparment was able to recycle some of the pieces of fabric from past Grand shows including: Pride and Prejudice, Rock and Roll, The Wizard of Oz, The Last 5 Years, Dreamgirls, Anything Goes, Legends and Peter Pan.

Head of Wardrobe, Lisa Wright, says the colourful coat is filled with symbolism. "Everyone who has worked on the coat has a different interpretation, such as crosses, pyramids, wheat fields, the river, the Nile, the sun, the desert and so on."
