Welcome to The Grand Theatre

The Grand Theatre is a cultural icon in London and, as one of nine Category A theatres in the country, it is recognized nationally as a cultural leader. We take great pride in providing top-notch entertainment to London and Southwestern Ontario residents, offering family entertainment, musicals and comedies each season. Along with this entertainment, the theatre provokes thought through its dramas, both current and classical. The performing arts provide a forum for presenting issues that inspire those watching to think critically about their environment. Social issues, such as racism and gender discrimination, as well as the complex human dynamics found in families and relationships are presented in a forum that shows, not tells - the most powerful form of explanation.

The production quality of theatre on The Grand’s stage is on par with other theatres of similar size in Canada and internationally. World premieres and classics are staged here in a fully professional environment, in one of the oldest and most beautiful performance spaces in North America. The onstage talent is exceptional, whether a seasoned professional with national exposure or a local favourite. It is also important to note that the combined experience of our 18-person production crew is over 200 years and they are renowned across the country for their talents and skills.

We're pleased to have so many dedicated donors and supporters. In addition to funding provided by the City of London through the Community Arts Investment Program, The Grand receives annual operating funds from the Canada Council and the Ontario Arts Council. In addition, we received funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage to assist in the funding of our Arts Presentation Series. Our corporate sponsors and individual donors continue to be our strength.

One of The Grand's major assets is the building itself. The theatre provides London with an 839-seat venue for community groups and corporations. As well as the obvious provision of space, The Grand acts as a focal point for the city, a place where community members can come together every night of the theatre season to mingle, socialize and network. Having this beautiful theatre here in London instils a sense of pride that London is on an equal footing culturally with other major centres in this country.

As executive director, artistic director and president of the Board of Directors, we are proud to provide an opportunity for Londoners to see first-class professional theatre not otherwise provided in London. This high level of cultural entertainment also acts as a drawing card for London businesses and employees. Together with Museum London and the Orchestra, The Grand provides an impressive cultural environment for those considering the city of London as a place to live and work.
